So here we are, another year! I know, I know…. here I go again trying to re-start blogging and actually keep up with it, but I made a few achievable NY resolutions this year and blogging or at least photo blogging is one of them. I think in part, Facebook is to blame as I put all my comings and goings and photos on there and I’m not sure who’d be reading this other than people who I’m friends with on Facebook.
But, I shall try!! Maybe I’ll even tweet a bit too and put the URL for here on Twitter.
Other resolutions? Cleaning and de-cluttering. Ive been thinking for a while how much of a state this place is getting in and how things are starting to pile up and that the old ‘toothbrush rule’ no longer applied like it did when we first moved in. For those unfamiliar with the toothbrush rule, it’s basically that if anyone asked you, at any time “where is your toothbrush?” that you could quickly and confidently answer correctly. The idea of de-cluttering and keeping a tidy house is that you should be able to apply this rule to all of your possessions. When we moved in, in 2006 I could do this but gradually, over time, it’s just got worse and worse and now we’re even hiding things behind sofas again it’s time it stopped.
The original plan was to start of the house and work backwards, so beginning with the simple yet satisfying tasks of porch and cloakroom. But then the mess in the children’s bedrooms finally became overwhelming so today we gutted them. And I mean gutted! We have an 8 seated people carrier and with the seats folded down we filled it to the roof, twice!!! I’m semi disgusted that we had that much stuff in the house but mostly just pleased and proud that we finally got on with it and did it. Now both rooms have visible carpets and wardrobes that can be opened!
So, I think Miss Sis and I are out tomorrow at a nearby farm shop but for the time that we are in, we’ll tackle the porch and make a start on the cloakroom.
Lastly, is making more of an effort to see friends. I am naturally quite routine driven and anti social but when I do see friends I really enjoy it. This year we’ve already had two groups of friends come over on Sunday (who’d never met but got on really well) and then yesterday on the bank holiday we zipped up the motorway to see some friends in Birmingham which was wonderful. Even Perfect Husband who’s usually even less sociable than I am, enjoyed himself and said we must do it again soon.
So, 2012….the year of blogging, a clutter free life and seeing friends near, and even far!
Oh and fiiiiiinally getting confident with my sewing machine!
